Soy Wax

Soy wax is a natural product.

Sometimes it can have some imperfections .

We made a few posts with commonly asked questions regarding soy candles. Soy wax is a vegetable wax derived from soybeans. Soy wax also burns slower than paraffin wax, meaning you'll get a candle that lasts longer. While all candles emit some black soot while burning, soy wax burns cleaner and results in less soot than paraffin.

After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes, at which point the oil can be extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated (the leftover flakes are used for animal feed).  The process of hydrogenating the oil alters the melting point of the oil, making it solid at room temperature and suitable for candle use.

What are the white marks on my candle ?

The white marks on the candles are called frosting.

The tiny white looking crystals on the tops and sides of the jars, This is a very natural characteristic of Soy wax and It does not affect the quality or burn of the candle. Since soybean wax has a lower melting point than paraffin wax, it can release excess fragrance oils(being in a warm room, in front of the heater, sunlight, or even during shipping). This is normal for a soy candle to sweat,  Please store in a cool area for optimum performance of your soy candles.

I'm done with my candle

You can reuse it! When you're down to the bottom of the jar. You can just wash the rest of the wax out with soap and warm water.

Our Jars can be used for storage, a little planter, décor items, etc...

We also accept your used jars to give a new candle a new home!

Feel free to drop it off in Oshawa

( email/ DM for address).

Trim your wicks

Trim your candle wick before every lighting, about 1/4"-1/8". This avoids mushrooming of the wick and better controls the size of the flame, to get the best out of your candle.

Candle Care Tips

Candle Care:

  • Burn candle within sight
  • Keep out of the reach of children and pets
  • Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire
  • Remove all packaging before burning
  • Place on temperature safe surface
  • Keep away from drafts. Keep the wax pool free of debris.
  • To avoid overheating and sooting, keep wick centered and trimmed to 1/4 “ at all times.
  • Do not burn more than 4 hours at a time
  • Discontinue use when ¼ “ of wax remains

Fragrance Performance:

If your candle is not releasing a strong fragrance:

Move your candle to another location to avoid drafts from vents or fans.

Single wick candles are meant to be used in smaller rooms to enhance fragrance performance. Double or Triple Wick candles work best in larger rooms.

To avoid a crack in your candle:

Make sure your wicks are trimmed to ¼”

Make sure your wicks are centered.

Do not exceed the recommended burn time of 3-4 hours.

Avoid drafts as they can cause wicks to veer off center, which can lead to glass overheating

Discontinue use if wick clips are exposed or if there is only ¼ of wax left in your candle vessel

Tunneling

Tunneling is more apparent in the initial burn of the candle. Please burn your candle 2-3times an make sure each burn time is in increments of 3-4 hours to allow wax to pool around the edges of the candle.

If tunneling is still apparent, proceed to burn in 3-4 hours  until the candle self corrects.

Try wrapping tin foil around the candle and letting it burn for 1-2 hours.

Soot Issues:

If you ever experience soot

Make sure you trim your wicks and keep them trimmed regularly

If you're still experiencing excess sooting, please trim your wick to ⅛ “.

  • Please ensure that your candle is not being burned near a vent or fan.
  • Make sure you are not burning your candle longer than the recommended time of 3-4hours.

If your experience is soot and any further use, contact us.

Tips

  1. Tip: To help prevent soot, keep candles out of drafts, ex: ceiling fans, A/C Vents, open windows, etc.
  2. Tip: Always burn your candles within sight
  3. Tip: To avoid glass cracking, do not burn the last ¼ - ½ “ of wax in the jar. An exposed wick clip is a great indicator to extinguish your flame.
  4. Tip: Never extinguish a candle flame with the lid. The trapped smoke permeates the melted wax and changes the entire fragrance profile of the scent.
  5. Tip: For optimum performance and to avoid tunneling allow wax pool to form from edge to edge. And burn for 3-4hours. The first burn is the most important, we call this the burn memory
